Vienna To Prague Train Ticket

Vienna To Prague Train Ticket

Warsaw – Prague – Vienna?

I’m planning to go to Warsaw – Prague – Vienna (not necessarily have to be in that order) in September.
I have friends who have offered a place to stay in Warsaw and Vienna, but I still need to find an accommodation in Prague.

- Can I take a train/coach Warsaw-Prague and Prague-Vienna? If yes, how easy is it to arrange the tickets booking from England? How much are the tickets approximately?

- How long will these train/coach trips will take?

- Is one week a reasonable time to do this trip?

- For the hotel in Prague, any recommended place near the city centre?

I haven’t really set up a budget for the trip but I’m pretty used to backpacking and not completely against the idea of paying more to have a more comfortable stay either.

If there’s anybody has travelled with a similar itinerary or is familiar with these places, I’ll appreciate some inputs and experience sharing. Thanks!

I think trains are better, as the way is quite long from Warszaw to Prague – about 9–10 hours on trai (good to go through night). Departures of direct trains from Prague to Vienna (takes about 4 hours): http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/DepRes.asp?tt=a&p=MF&from=1&from=0&from=6192&froml=-1&to=1&to=0&to=8838&tol=-1&date=23.4.2008&time=18:06&dateall=1&isdep=1&link=95A6
It’s not necessary to buy the tickets in advance from England, you get them on the railway station. (If you want to be sure, get them one day before you leave.)
The prices should be 20–50€ for each ticket, depending on which train you choose, whether you want a bed etc.
I think one week is OK, especially if you take night train from Warszaw. I would spend more time in Vienna and Prague than in Warszaw if you’re in history, as Warszaw was heavily destroyed by nazis during WW2 and almost nothing left from the historical center (although they have built exact copies of the houses).
If you don’t want to give away a lot of money, something like hotel Bily Lev http://www.praguehotellocator.com/hotels/bily-lev/ is fine – it’s close to the center, good and not expensive. If you want something really really coll for more money Hotel Waldstein near the Prague Castle is great: http://www.praguehotellocator.com/hotels/waldstein/
